Who Am I?..

Now that is an interesting question indeed. The fact that I am desperately searching for an answer at this very moment more or less ensures the fact that the person in this container has not yet been defined. One of the major outcomes I have hoped to achieve in my time as an undergrad is just that; to be able to summarize my being or persona clearly. This tedious process has not yet reached the level that one may have hoped for as of yet; however, to say it has progressed would be a correct way of putting it, in fact, a much better situation awaits me everyday.

That being the case, providing a look in the right direction is not entirely impossible. Many of the times a question such as this has presented itself, a proper reply has been prepared just for that particular instance. Getting as close to the truth or reality is the aim of said reply, so I will attempt to use that. Otherwise, my other options are thought process failure or a blank page.

- My name is Dylan, a technical writing major at USFSP (senior). Generally speaking, my decision to make this my major was largely based on the fact that I would like to teach English in Japan after completing a bachelors degree. Obviously, English is the forte that needs to be followed. Surrounding this a decent amount of enthusiasm, which has been so for quite some time. As a person, I enjoy many types of music, and strangely I moved away from playing such in order to build race cars and the like. Saying that an undertaking of that sort was both a bad idea and very rewarding experience at the same time makes complete sense to someone like myself. Beyond that, I enjoy many facets of Japanese culture being that I plan to live and work there in the not so distant future (if I continue to make progress). Some examples include: eating their foods, speaking some of the the language, tuning cars in their fashion, listening to their music and speaking with friends that reside there. In the end, these things more or less define me. Realizing that is indeed outside of the norm is fine by me, after all it is what I enjoy.

I suppose that is more or less all of for now. Updated later perhaps..

I find it easier sometimes to consider what I am not. A man, for instance. I'm definitely not a man. Or a member of a political party. As I sit here typing away, my boyfriend is watching the bottom of the 9th in the Rays game. He's literally yelling at the tv. I'm not a baseball fanatic. But, I do love Japanese food. A co-worker of mine is going to Tokyo in a couple of weeks and can't speak the language. He's wondering how he will ask for directions. I suggested hand gestures. Uh oh. The Rays lost! Excuse me while I go comfort a disappointed Rays fan.

Who are you or who are you not, are both in the box concepts, would you not agree?
You want a label to solidify and signify who and what you are all about, and then everything will be clear.
Sorry, not happening. You have to play the life cycle all the way through, like one moment at a time with no cutting in line to get their sooner.
And it all holds value
So enjoy
Japan: They love American music of every genre.
Good luck in the catch up space.
Jon
