EMERGENCE  AND  CONVERSION

Emergence:  The process or the result of emerging as possibly something new.

Convergence: converted in substance, condition, form, and function.EMERGENCE AND CONVERSION 2

The following paper is an exploration in the use of modern film and music lyrics as a lesson plan in a classroom setting for first and second English language learners (ELL) in combating illiteracy specifically.  This is not to say that this medium is not essential in all curriculum in modern education, but for sake of an explicit argument in its educational value, literacy in its most functional educational level is the target group.  The objective is not to produce English scholars in the spoken or written word, but to move these individuals into a functional position within society.  The paper will argue why the use of these mediums are essential in the neurological learning process within this environment and should be the root of the teaching curriculum for ELL students  in today’s medium driven society.  In no way am I insinuating  that teachers in there most traditional sense are not essential in this process, but in contrary, there humane and professional spontaneity in guidance in formatting a comprehensive and concise lesson plan are indispensable in using these teaching aids. Without comprehensive lesson plans for instructors the mediums misuse by teaching professionals will be investigated and describing its pitfalls by not adhering to a clear and precise application.

Illiteracy, through out America is at a staggering level, fueled by a multitude of educational incompetence’s to assorted to explore within this paper.  What is apparent  is an unacceptable dropout level in our educational system endorsed by an antiquated system of policy and lesson plans specifically for “At Risk” and  “ELL” students. In turn giving rise to adults who are incapable to function in our ever-increasing technological society.  As adults over eighteen, they no longer are the responsibility our educational system. They now pass into the mainstream of society, left with little choice in employment and the vulnerability of being exploited, or they wander through out life as case numbers within the welfare or correctional system.      Therefore I question what is our responsibility as a society to these individuals without pointing fingers to the past of a broken educational system that has allowed these citizens to pass through its cracks and crevices that are in reality are large gaping holes. If we are committed as a society to reach out to these individuals how should we go about it. One direction is through adult education remedial programs offered by community colleges where a college assessment test is taken and deficiency's are noted. Their are many other avenues to be explored and implemented in combating adult illiteracy. My direct concerns in this study, are when these individuals reach a classroom of instruction, and are confronted with making up for time lost in there educational process. I believe that through a well structured media lesson plan inclusive of text as stated an English Language learner will comprehend in a broader manner and at a greater  pace then conventional studies.
