What are the critical needs currently capturing the attention of the local nonprofit sector?
-Aberlyna Danelle <3
(Kairos)
Non-Profit organizations: oraganization that use funding to help purse goals but does not pay its owners and workers.
Examples of non-profits include
American Cancer Society
PETA
The American Red Cross
United Nations.
I personally have been a member of tons of non profit sectors, some of them still active and some of them that have been shut down.
There are a couple of needs that are essential for non profit organizations, such as:
1. Membership
2. Participation
3. $$$Funding$$S
Membership:
- there is power in numbers
all non profits have a cause, if things come up such as elections, or polls if you don't have the numbers you cant make a difference
*example- The Green Party
*Personal Experience- Students working against tobacco (working to get ordinance passed
Participation:
-Who's gonna do the work
someone has to get the word out
*example-
*Personal Experience- Presiding over anything
Funding:
-Who's paying for all of this
money makes the world go round
*example- flyers, attention grabbers.
*Personal Experience- Students working against tobacco loss of funding (where are they now)
Why do I care? Non- Profits:
Are responsible for most community service done in local communities.
Are decreasing due to a lack of these things.
Example of Public Opinion
Wanted: Organizations in Need (Final draft)
I think that you are off to a great start! Since you explained that you have been apart of many non-profit sectors, you should just elaborate on your personal experience. I honestly wish I could give you better feedback, but I am still sketchy on the subject of non-profit organizations. Maybe you should first introduce what non-profit sectors are to your reader. Also give examples of big name non-profits. Your points are good to explain. - Jasmyne B.
