Living Cutlers D stern

This chapter Living Cultures, from Earth Democracy was about the affect that the  community and democracy had. Earth Democracy is focused on cultures with a living base. Living cultures is exemplified in this chapter by endorsing peace and cultural diversity.   I think it is important the world supports peace when it comes to the importance of different cultures. It’s very curtail (what do you mean by curtail, and try to avoid using "IT" confuses me what "it" is and what you are trying to talk about.) that you accept people  no matter value different beliefs. Diversity is important because it allows interaction between different peoples values and beliefs. Making sure a community is very important when it comes to this chapter.  No matter what making sure people are being set the right direction in life is all that matters. Try to reword these last two sentences, why are communities important in this chapter, why is it important people are set in the right direction and what does this have to do with living cultures, maybe re read this part of the chapter and give some points straight from the book or go into more detail about it in another way)

This is a start David, good job, I just think you need more details to support your points because you throw a point out there and skip right past it to your next topic. Try using links in your writing to help us better understand what you are talking about and also maybe use direct points from the book to help us better understand what you are talking about. Keep it coming!- Ehle  This chapter, Living Cultures, from Earth Democracy by Vandana Shiva was about the how cultures affect the community and democracy. Earth Democracy is based on living cultures. Living cultures are explained in this chapter by promoting peace, cultural diversity, and to nourish life.

David, Shiva's book is soooo wide-ranging that it's almost impossible to focus on it all.  I'd recommend focusing a light on one issue.  You discuss living cultures.  I think a good topic to think about might be how globalization is wiping out the multitude of world cultures and reducing them to a lowest common denominator culture.  Think: McDonald's Culture.  You can go to Spain, Saudi Arabia, China, Australia, Japan, etc. and order a Big Mac and get the exact same sandwich.  That's a monoculture.  You could easily do it with movies or music as well.  But I'd make your essay less book report and more insight on a particular aspect of the book that lights up your imagination.  Hope that helps. ~ Jay

"Predators ... are going to do everything in their power to try to convince young girls, young boys, to come with them and enter this particular lifestyle." said by FBI Deputy Assistant Director. This quote shows the exact problem to sex trafficking. If these people continue trying to keep thier buisnees going we will constantly continue to have problems in stopping them. Also, predators are some crazy people and they will go to limits that we would never think a human would go to.

In the eyes of the predators having thier buisness possibly being shut down is not right. This is thier way of life even though it is completly wrong. They are just the poeple that file girls and boys to the pimps, by having this set up is the only reason they still thrive from selling poeple.

Outline of sex trafficing:

Predators:

The Predators are the poeple that gather all the girls and boys to ship out to continue the buisness of sex trafficing. Without the predators doing to the dirty work of getting the girls and boys this buisness would not stay afloat.

Children:

Children and young teens are the main soarce of victims in sex trafficing. The children being taken have no fault but trying to be safer in areas where known for kidnapping should be attempted to be avioded. If parents and Children try harder to help aviod the capter of the children the sex trafficing hopefully will start to deplete.

Pimps:

These poeple called pimps are the poeple that buy the children from the predators and convey the sex traffic. They take the girls and boys and distribute them to thier custumers throughtout the country. After the pimps recieve the children from the predators the abuse is done. These pimps are doing horrible things to these girls and boys and these are the poeple that if we catch the predators will have no reason to continue kidnapping young teens.

Goverment:

Everybody wants to know why our government does not work harder at trying to decline the amount of sex trafficking. It [WHAT IT? WHO IT? REPLACE YOUR INDIRECT PRONOUNS WITH ACTUAL AGENTS (ACTUAL CHARACTERS)]is not only from one county, therefore there is no one goverment at fault. Every goverment in the world needs to come together and try to come up with a way to find the antidote for this buisness. If we have any hope of this buisness being stoped our goverment needs to be a lot more vocal and blount about what is happening and how we can start to aviod this problem.
