The Real You –
remix of Heidi’s remix of Lauren’s poetry
. . . not because I thought it needed remixing; I really loved Lauren's original and thoroughly enjoyed Heidi's insightful remix . . . but just because this 'place' inspires me to play . . . to try on possibilities I put aside for years
Find who you are and never disguise it.
That's what I’ve learned and now I reprise it.
Across time and space, I reach out to you
Poetic communication, nothing new.
Where have you been all my life? Looking for you.
It’s just my imagination, yet I want to believe
Someone we meet will see and love
faults and all. Each other - we saw.
Then, through it all, I couldn't love stronger than
When me being me, I saw you being you.
No point to hide our true selves (to portray someone ‘better’?)
For who, but true self, desires the give and receive
I look forward to a day when I trust to say "I love you"
In the flesh, to your face, and not in poetics
Because I've said it and meant it
If only you’d allow your imagination to believe.
