Midterm Reflections

During the Writing to Explore section of our class, I was still getting back into my ryhthem of writing, shaking off the rust from the summer. The structure of the class was new to me, so I wasn't to sure of what I was expected to write. The idea of writing just to write kind of seemed weird to me; all my experiences in the past called for strategy, planning, and then execution through writing. The differneces between the two are like night and day. Through planning, you create a limited spectrum for writing but by just writing to explore you have no boundaries.

During the Writing to Inform section of the class I was starting to feel a little more comfortable with the rhythem of the class and was able to focus more on my writing than worrying about what I was supposed to do. Although I was a bit confused as to how we were stuck on Earth Democracy for so long and how, exactly, we were supposed to incorporate that into our WTI essay. Working in groups was a bit hard to accomplish, mainly due to the fact that there would be only one or two of us on any given day and our schedules didn't seem to align. I also felt like it was harder to provide feedback on the essays of my peers because everyone seemed to have a late start in writing them. Other than those couple of speed-bumps, I think that this section went pretty smooth for me and I was really able to display my ability to gear a piece to a certain audience. I was also able to use more links and multi-media tools in this essay, and I like how that assisted me in getting my point across.
