10.26.10

This is long overdue. It's time I started getting my act together and get back on track. It seems I've been slacking with my work. Sure, university isn't the easiest thing to keep up with, but I'm not helping the situation by wasting time, not studying, playing video games. My mid term grades gave me quite a shock, though I shouldn't be surprised. My parent's worked hard to get me here. Now it's my turn to take the wheel. I have the rest of the semester to get all my grades up, and I know that with a lot of studying, a lot of prayer, and A LOT of determination, I can get good grades. First stop, the wiki-blog. time to build this baby up.

OK. So I'm studying for western civilization, and I need to memorize 60 terms. I need to know who/what they are, what they did, why they're important. Not hard...but really.....60? I sound like an annoying freshman right now.

In the News:

Paul the octopus died. For those of you who don't know Paul, he was famous for predicting the winners of the FIFA World Cup. If he died directly after the World Cup, I'd suspect foul play, but it's been a few months.

A man was murdered just around the corner from my house. Apparently, the man was lured to an abandoned house on 7th street where he was met by the "hiccup girl" and two guys who intended to rob him. When he refused to surrender his belongings, he was shot multiple times. Within 24 hours, all three were arrested and charged.

I hear about these kinds of things on TV but I never expected it to happen this close to home. Something similar happened back home in St. Lucia; it was right in my neighborhood as well. Saturday was a pretty quiet night for me. I didn't notice any police car lights outside, but I heard a lot of sirens. I only noticed the police "do not cross" tape the next morning. The next day the story was on CNN. It's amazing to see how this story went nationwide before I even knew about it right around the corner.

10.27.10

Today's starting off pretty good. Found out that I get to take my algebra test at home for Thanksgiving week. Just what I need to get my grades back up :D

Been studying all afternoon so I haven't had much time to post on the wiki. The good news is that I've been thinking about my problem statement but I haven't quite got it focused just yet. Hopefully I'll get it together by tomorrow's class.

10.28.10

In last night's wikiblog, I said that I'd probably have my problem statement narrowed down by today. After I got offline i took a shower (TMI...i know) but then it hit me. The idea just popped into my head. What was being done to help all those soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan? I know the combat mission in Iraq is "officially" over, but there are still troops there; and there are still plenty of troops in Afghanistan. Some of them have been gone for months; others, for years. So like I said, What's being done for those returning home? Specifically, those returning injured? This will be the basis for my problem statement.

Good News and bad news. Bad news first: the class is half empty. Good News: Dr. Connor arm is better :)

10.29.10

Like every other Friday, today is pretty uneventful. Campus is like a ghost town. Don't know if i'll be posting this weekend....gonna spend most of it studying. The rest of the time will be COD i guess lol. Oh yea and sleeping. Then there's my WTEval. essay which i'm focused on. Gotta make time for that too. That's what I like about weekends. You get all this time to clear out assignments and studying for the week ahead. Well I'm off. Let the weekend begin!

10.30.10

Right now the main thing on my mind is the situation back home in St. Lucia. For those who don't know, Hurricane Tomas (no h for some reason) is blowing through the windward islands which is where most of my loved ones are. I've seen a few pictures and the sight is not pretty. Got word from my mom that everything's fine with her, although phone and internet lines are down (don't know how she got to my sister). All I can do for now is watch from a distance and pray for the safety of all my friends and family back home. God Bless.

11.01.10

Glad to hear that my family and friends back home are safe and sound. The island was severely damage and only a few deaths were reported, but I'm happy that my little island survived. Rebuilding process has already begun. The next worry is Haiti. Hope they do all they can to prepare.

11.03.10

Not a bad day today. Destroyed my Western Civilization test yesterday :D. Had a college algebra test today, but that could have gone better. Other than that, I'm doing good. Going to find out how I can get charitable donations sent to Saint Lucia tomorrow. The island took a pretty hard hit; 14 confirmed deaths. I may not be there, but I can definitely do my part from here.

11.04.10

Great day today. Like i said in the previous post, I DESTROYED my western civ. test, and i have the grade to prove it *insert big smile here*. Gotta keep this up. English was pretty good today. Got some much needed feedback on my problem statement although some of the class wasn't present. Hopefully it'll get better as the term comes closer to the end.

Hoping to set up a donation box in the dorms sometime next week for clothes and stuff to send to St. Lucia. Gotta help every way I can.

11.11.10

Oops. Haven't been on here for a while have I? Well the week's been pretty good. Started it off by buying Call of Duty Black Ops which is pretty good, except for the graphics, oh well. Workwise, things aren't too bad. still working to get my grades back up. Not sure how i'll do in Algebra, probably should've dropped it when I had the chance (guess that's just me for not wanting to give up). Now I gotta worry about my finals, especially Macroeconomics and Geography. For English, there's talk about the showcase. I've done one before, obviously I can't use the same poster board from last year (wish I could lol). I'll probably base it on this latest paper (Writing to convince). I've already started brainstorming ideas for this one. I'm thinking maybe human rights in certain countries. I'll try to focus it on one country in particular. OR!! I'll write to convince about the need for aid in the St. Lucia which was recently hit by a hurricane. This may be a little personal, but it's necessary, and will be a good topic. See? Wiki blogging is pretty good. I was able to get my topic in the 5 minutes it took to write this blog (why don't I do this more often?).

Obviously I can't end this blog without saying Happy Veterans day to all those who have, or are serving in the United States Military. Your work is appreciated *general's voice* lool.

11.15.10

Killing time before class and thought I'd do some blogging. Weekend wasn't too bad. Pretty normal. finally made a schedule so I can keep track of everything. Gonna start studying more, hitting the gym. I've been in a good mood these days. Got to talk to my best friend back home this weekend. Maybe that's why. Plus, my mom's coming over tomorrow. Looking forward to that; though im not looking forward to the long talk on my grades. Oh well, guess I have it coming. Starting on unit 4 portfolio and getting ready for my showcase in december. Can't believe the years' almost over already. Soon we'll all be saying HAPPY NEW YEAR. Ok i'm getting ahead of myself lol. Oh well. Time for class I guess. Cya Wiki.

11.20.10

Hiya Wiki. Not much to discuss today. Semester's coming to a close and im working to get everything done on time. Finally have an idea for my major (only took  me a whole year). There are sooo many people registering for classes that i'm backed up till the 6th of December. Oh well, hope I can get into all my classes without any hassle. Gotta stay positive :D Writing to convince is top on my list right now. Gotta get that done this weekend. I feel strongly about my topic. Yet again, St. Lucia was hit by a storm. It wasnt an actual Hurricane, but since most of the island hadn't been repaired yet after the Hurricane, schools were closed, the city was flooded, etc, etc. The list goes on. The last thing these guys need is more rain. Not sure how the water situation is right now. I think many are starting to get water back. Again, gotta stay positive :D

11.23.10

So the Christmas ads are on tv....already, and the black fridays ads are up too. Need i say it? It's THANKSGIVING!! So this'll be my first US thanksgiving, and im kinda excited. Spent most of yesterday afternoon cleaning my room.....simply becasue I wont be sleeping in it for a few days lol. So many guests arriving this week that everyone's gotta be bunking up. So basically, the im gonna be hosting about 20 people in one house. But i guess that's one of the things that comes with THankgiving. This is gonna be great :D

11.29.10

Edited 6 days ago? Sorry for being away so long Mr. Wiki. My first U.S. Thanksgiving was a huge success. There were so many people in my house that we had to double up in the rooms, at least we each had our own bed :D The house was also filled with more blackberries, and laptops than our little residential router could handle so this is why I was offline all weekend. Happy to be back online and can't wait for next year (^_^).

Back to work now, finals are coming up and im getting ready. I'm studying, but I need to stay positive. That's the only way I'll pass. Gotta get started on my showcase as well. I plan on changing my topic to bring attention to the damage caused by Hurricane Tomas on my home island of St. Lucia. Lets get to work.
