10-21-10

This is my first blog on our wiki page. My good friend Ehle had informed me this is a good way to get a better understanding of the class:) I've started to have a  better understanding of this class, and I hope by doing these blogs now I will learn more about what were suppose to be doing and learning. So far I have been making it through but I feel like I could be doing so much better now. I hope this blog helps me succeed in this enc 1102 class.

10-21-10 continued.....Today in class I have come to have a better understanding of what were doing with our groups. I now know to do just as Nike says, "Just Do It!" I'm glad I have come to have a better understanding of this class. Its all starting to come together for me, slowly but surely.

10-26-10 After class, I am still a bit confused on what we are doing, are we writing group proposals or individual? I have also checked out my midterm grade and I'm not to happy with that, so I'm hoping that if I continue writing these blogs something will come to me and help me get a better understanding of what exactly I'm doing wrong, or not nessesarily wrong but not right. :/

Amber - I don't know your grade and I don't know the feedback Prof Conner gave you.  But  hopefully he gave youthe 'Davinci Code' to the class - my version is to engage and participate on the wiki.  I don't say that to judge you ... I don't know how often you post to the wiki.  But it is a composition class.  If you want your grade to go up, I'd recommend making it a habit to open the wiki once a day.  Look in the recent activity menu.  Pick out one or two entries that sound somewhat interesting (they're easier to reply to) - and respond.  I'd especially recommend looking at the advanced comp folks.  They're writing is very creative and interesting (in my opinion.)  Add to the post, critique the post in a paragraph or two, gush about how much you love the post.  Just engage and show your participation in the class.  I don't think Conner is looking for perfection in our writing.  He wants us to open up and write.  My take is he loves to see us feedbacking to each other.  OR... use your wiki blog page as a daily journal - dear diary... etc.  That will show Conner you're making an effort and I think that's what he's looking for most.  If you're confused about assignments or just have questions or need to vent - shoot me an eMail: jay.boda@gmail.com  I'd be more than happy to help you out and hopefully help you earn an A in the class.  Don't get too down about your midterm grade.  It's there to give you a chance to course correct and get back on track.  Hope that helps.  Cheers - Jay

Thanks Jay, I think I'm starting to understand and after getting your opinion I think I'm starting to understand what is going on. And thanks for the help!:)-Amber

10-28-10 Today I have spent the class just listening to what everyone is saying and what Prof. Conner had to say and I think I have finally got an understanding of exatly what I have to do. I have started picking a Non-Profit, and after reading the NoFo 101 page I believe I get it. Focusing is what I need to focus on most now. :)

11-1-10 Well today is the start of the new month and I'm thinking of the start of a more focused me! I just finished putting together my NOFO portfolio and I'm very pleased at what I have finished. Its a work in the processes but its going somewhere. A very productive morning, hopefully the start of a good day:)

11-2-10 WERE IN TRAINING! This nofo writting is merely practice for our final proposal as a group for the grant. This is something I think I have finally realized this and knowing this its going to help me be successfull~!:)

11-10-10 It has been quite a productive day, I've taking care of my holds so I'll be able to register for classes, cleaned, worked on some homework, and Started my unit 4 portfolio!!!!!  I'm ready to get writng but still a bit lost on what the topic is. From my understanding as of now its just anything I would like to convince my audience(which I establish). That doesnt sound too bad. Just a matter of picking out a topic I can passionatly write about. There are so many things I can think of, pin pointing it downn to one is going to be a difficult task, but once chosen I think I'll be able to write and research  for my topic quite well. Another think I'm a bit confused about is the writting assignment where we pick and issue on the wiki to write about that is at the end of the Unit 4 page. I'm sure I'll I have to do is ask my fellow classmates and they will help fill me in. Sounds like a plan to me now off to get started:)

Hey Amber!!! The topic is writing to convince/ solve problems. Dr. Conner suggested that if your group doesn't have a strong problem statement then to further your exploration on whatever your topic was and form a writing to convince essay on that topic in order to get more research and statistics... Or you can go your own route and simply do a writing to convince essay, and create your own topic. EX: I am using my essay from Ulrich's class as a template (posting the old one on the Wiki) and then totally redoing it so that my audience can see my transformation and improvement throughout this course. If I understand your question correctly that is basically explaining our assignment for the topic on writing to convince, this issue could be anything just as you said its just a matter of picking the topic! :) Hopefully this helps you! " Another think I'm a bit confused about is the writting assignment where we pick and issue on the wiki to write about that is at the end of the Unit 4 page."

Thank you so much ehle! this does help a lot! Just to clarify, if I wanted to continue writing about my NOFO topic I could, which would lead to me adding more and imporving my nofo? You're a great help thanks again!

11-16-10 Unit four writing to convince is headed in the right direction for me. I've got plenty of research for my topic of drinking and driving and now I just have to organize it all give my opinion and write to convince people to now partake in these kinds of activites. This shoulnt take too long, but I just want to make sure I cover all the information and I get my point across. This is should be a task but I'm ready to take it on.
