Forever ignorant

Why I disagree with group...

My nofo selection differs from the group for various reason.

Personally I feel like the NOFO's are from best to least favorable:

1. 11

2. 12

3. 9

Why I disagree with my group....

My group selected USFSP #12 as the NOFO of choice.

I disagree. Strongly.

The NOFO itself is written nicely. They clearly present ideas and it has good structure and flow; but you're basically rewarding these mobile home residents for there ignorance. All people who choose to live in mobile homes, especially in the rainy states, know what they're getting themselves into. Higher home/flood insurance costs prove this. They said it themselves: they don't leave because they just feel "safer in there homes" and to stay out of traffic. These residents know the dangers of hurricanes yet they chose to stay at home. Using the money increase awareness for these people would be a waste of money when they don't want to listen. It didn't work the first time.

I agree with what you're saying. Giving money to mobile home residents who don't have the smarts to get out of a hurricane or tornado zone seems quite stupid. The residents are putting just a little too much faith in their "mighty" motor home. I'm sure there are plenty of shelters for these residents to wait out the threat. From what I understand, the money was to help mobile home users protect themselves, but, lets get serious. How strong can a mobile home be against a tornado? Dorothy had and actual house and even that got lifted right off the ground. Sad to say, the money that went to those homes is probably up in the air as well. - Ronald
