The Food Finale: Kelsey's Final Project

For this project, I intend to write about the best places to eat in St. Petersburg & Tampa areas on a student's budget. This is a continuation of my previous interest in food blogging, but for the second unit I would like for this topic to transform from entertaining narrative into articles geared toward student eating. I have no culinary background whatsoever, but I love food and would want to share it with readers, from a student's perspective. I'm always looking for great food and atmosphere at a reasonable price, and I'd be willing to bet there are a lot of people who feel the same but don't have the time or resources to find it. This projects purpose is to show students that they do not have to depend on fast food and Kraft mac and cheese in maintaining a college budget and lifestyle.

This project will be a series of several articles, which can be combined to start a St. Petersburg/Tampa College Dining Guide, published as a blog during the last week of classes. The first is already available, and although it does provide the name of a restaurant that is not so wallet friendly, I believe that even students can afford to treat themselves sometimes. However, the bulk of the information presented in my articles will be the great affordable dining this town has to offer, and where to find it (also included will be information pertaining to daily food & drink specials.)  My research will be in the form of first hand experience as I eat my way through St. Petersburg & Tampa for the remainder of the semester, and I intend to use pictures (crucial in the realm of food writing) as well as names/addresses/phone numbers of each restaurant I refer to in my articles.

I appreciate how the food realm has developed as a topic of discourse for this class. Several of my other classmates have also pursued the idea of food in many different lights, and I'd like to collaborate with one or more of them on this project as well as their final projects.
